The Ivanetta Davis Early Learning Center allows Pre-K students to prepare for Elementary school, and one thing the center has that others don't is a chicken coop.

The coop has three hens: Lacey, Hattie Pearl and Hey-Hey. They interact with the students, who feed and take care of them. Students even collect their eggs.

They can also tend to the Center's garden, where such vegetables as potatoes and lettuce are grown.

It gives the children the chance to connect nature with the food they eat.

Some of the parents even benefit from the coop and garden once harvest rolls around.
