CROSSVILLE, Tenn. (WTVF) — A school resource officer in Crossville is recovering after he was struck by a vehicle while directing traffic.
The incident happened Tuesday afternoon at North Cumberland Elementary School, located on Highway 127 North.
The Cumberland County Sheriff’s Office said Deputy Scott Iles suffered injuries to his head that required more than 200 stitches. He also suffered a cracked sternum and damage to his knee.
“Scott is in good spirits and is missing his young friends at school. He was most appreciative for the overwhelming outpouring of prayers and support he received,” the sheriff’s office said, in part, in a release.
Iles is expected to make a full recovery.
