Kroger grocery stores sent three tractor-trailer loads of food and thousands of dollars at Second Harvest Food Bank in Nashville.
Associates and customers donated more than $70,000 to Kroger's 2015 Can Hunger Campaign in November.
About $3,000 from those nationwide cash donations were used to buy food desperately needed by Second Harvest.
“They're in the food business; so they understand the needs of people who are hungry,” said Jayme Day, Second Harvest CEO. “That's the business they do every day, so a donation such as this goes an awful long way.”
Thanks to the donations, Second Harvest will be able to provide about 268,000 meals.
