A portion of Highway 31 has reopened in Sumner County after a tractor trailer that was hauling frozen chicken nuggets crashed.

According to the Tennessee Highway Patrol, there was a head-on crash along eastbound lanes near Phillips Hollow Road at about 1:15 a.m. Tuesday.

At least one person was injured in the crash, THP said.

Troopers reported the semi-truck was hauling 41,000 pounds of frozen chicken nuggets at the time of the crash.

Officers on scene told NewsChannel5 that Hazmat crews were called to the area because of an oil spill related to the collision. The road fully reopened around 5:30 a.m.
