A new settlement filed this week calls for the city of Franklin to add pollution controls as it expands its sewage treatment plant.
The suit centers on a battle between Franklin and the Harpeth River Watershed Association.
For years, the non-profit accused the city of polluting the Harpeth River from its sewage treatment plant.
The settlement included the added pollution controls. Franklin will also spend $10 million over five years to upgrade old sewer lines, and other projects to protect the river.
Plus, the city promised to extensively test the water-quality. A judge still has to sign the settlement, before it becomes final.
