Sheriff Hall Declines Meeting With President Trump

Davidson County Sheriff Daron Hall declined to meet with President Donald Trump during a trip to Washington, D.C.

Sheriff Hall was among a dozen local sheriffs asked to discuss immigration with President Trump on Tuesday morning.

However, Sheriff Hall decided against it. Hall, who’s in Washington for the National Sheriff's Association Winter Conference, was one of three Democratic sheriffs invited to attend - the others are Republican.

"After attending a briefing with the executive committee yesterday about topics and the meeting with President Trump, I became concerned the meeting was going to be supportive of issues - such as the Executive Order regarding immigration - and others, and made the decision not to go," said Hall.

He was the only one to decline the invitation.

Public Information Officer Karla West said the meeting may not have been much more than some type of photo opportunity, showing sheriffs who support the President's policy.

It’s unknown at this point, if that was the case here.
