Shop Small, Help Local Artisans

Instead of Walmart, Target, or Amazon, how about shopping local? There’s one local store where everything is made right here in Tennessee.

Shoppers can pick up anything in Made in TN in Franklin, and the purchase of the item will support a local artisan.

"I've always had a love for products made in Tennessee, and the quality that all the makers bring to the table,” said Ilex Pounders, the owner of Made in TN.

Pounders opened the shop recently, just in time for the holiday rush.

"They're all locally made, there's all different flavors,” Pounders said about some of his selection. “There's savory ones, there's sweet ones."

The shop has been situated inside the Factory at Franklin and has been selling local honey, candy, and handcrafted soaps.

"Obviously we're known for whiskey, and we have some great chocolatiers,” said Brett Henry, a seventh generation Nashville native and small business owner.

Henry also enjoys shopping local.

"We have so many makers, artisans, creatives, business owners here in Tennessee,” Henry said. "Often times the quality is significantly better, so you're not just helping someone you're getting way more for your dollar."
