A suspect has been arrested after a carjacking at one of Nashville's most popular and crowded public parks.

The incident happened at 3:20 p.m. on April 6 as an elderly man was parked near the pond at Centennial Park.

According to an affidavit from Metro Nashville Police, the victim was suddenly forced out of his car at gunpoint by a suspect identified as Dashawn Lytle.

Lytle allegedly planned to steal the vehicle when a good Samaritan nearby intervened and pulled his own weapon.

At one point, the two men were pointing their weapons at each other. Police said the good Samaritan fired one round and scared Lytle off.

The victim was taken to TriStar Centennial Medical Center for treatment.

Police located Lytle the following day and he was identified in a line-up by the alleged victim. He was officially booked overnight.
