Murfreesboro Police Officers arrested a Siegel High School teacher on a charge of solicitation of a minor for aggravated statutory rape.
Matthew Litton was arrested Wednesday after a juvenile reported that Litton solicited sex from them at a local gym.
Litton was a first year special education teacher and an assistant football and wrestling coach.
James Evans with Rutherford County Schools released this statement:
"...He has been on leave for more than a month. The leave was unrelated to this week’s charges. We were notified this week by Murfreesboro Police about the arrest and immediately placed Litton on suspension without pay. We were told the alleged victim was not a student at the school."
He was arrested at his home without incident. He was scheduled to appear in Circuit Court in Rutherford County on May 10.
