Davidson County and surrounding areas received several inches of rain in a short amount of time.
Members of the county's property assessments office wants residents to know that if their property has significant damage because of significant rainfall from Hurricane Harvey, their property value could be adjusted.
According to a state code --- Anytime you have substantial damages or improvements to your home --- the office has to make adjustments to the valuation.
Damages could mean your property is uninhabitable or would reduce the value by 50 percent or more.
"We're going to listen to what they have to say and come out and make a visit to the home. And from there, we will determine a value in adjusting the valuation of the property. And if someone contacts us by this Wednesday and allow us to get out there quickly enough, they can have a determination of their value by the end of the month " Metro - Davidson County's property assessor Vivian Wilhoite said.
