Silver Alert Canceled After Couple Found Safe

A Silver Alert has been canceled after an 80-year-old Rutherford County man and his wife from were found safe in White County. 

Family members became worried after James and Betty Brasfield were not heard from after a hair appointment in Eagleville Monday. They never made it back to their home on Lee Road in Smyrna.

Both James and 73-year-old Betty required medications. 

Authorities said Tuesday is James Brasfield’s 80th birthday. Information about why the couple was in White County was not released. It was not know if they went to the area for a birthday celebration or some other purpose. 

Officials with the Rutherford County Sheriff’s Office said they appreciated the help they received from the public. 

"Sheriff (Robert) Arnold and the Sheriff’s Office sincerely thank all of you for getting the word out about them so quickly," said Lisa Marchesoni, spokesperson for the Sheriff's Office. 

The Silver Alert was issued shortly after 11:30 p.m. Monday. It was canceled just before 9 p.m. Tuesday.
