NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WTVF) — With just a few days to go before Christmas, eastern portions of Middle Tennessee could see some light snow accumulation.

Rain returned to the mid-state on Thursday and will stick around through Friday evening. Temperatures will remain in the 40s and low-50s today but colder air will filter in on the backside of this system.

Some wet snowflakes may mix in for areas east of Interstate 65 Friday afternoon, with minor accumulations possible in higher elevations – which could impact travel if you’re heading east. Nashville could see a few snowflakes during the afternoon hours.

Wind chill values will be in the 30s on the heels of a 20-mph wind.

NewsChannel 5 meteorologist Lelan Statom says sunshine will return for the weekend. View complete forecast here.
