Several in South Nashville were left without water after a water main break on Franklin Road.
A Nashville Electric Service contractor was digging to put in a new pole and hit the water main early Wednesday morning.
At one point, there was minor flooding in at Franklin Road and Battery Lane due to the gushing water.
Workers said the issue could take hours to repair.
