WAYNE CO., Tenn. (WTVF) — State Representative David Byrd is in the hospital with complications of COVID-19 pneumonia, according to family members.
Byrd's relatives shared on Facebook that he was diagnosed with COVID pneumonia at Wayne County Hospital Saturday night.
According to the post, the doctor wanted Byrd to be transferred to St. Thomas Hospital, where he was taken by helicopter, due to no ambulance availability.
They said Byrd's wife Sherry is experiencing symptoms but hasn't been tested yet.
Byrd represents District 71, including Hardin, Lewis, Wayne and part of Lawrence Counties.
