Officials said eight people were taken to local hospitals after a ride shut down at the Delta Fair in Memphis.
The fair's safety director Matt Snyder said the Moonraker ride's computer detected a problem and immediately began safety shutdown. Snyder said the operator of the ride panicked and halted the ride, releasing the safety restraint before it had settled into its cradle.
Snyder said two adults and six children were transported to local hospitals after walking from the ride under their own power. He said none had visible injuries.
Those on the ride spoke about the incident afterward saying many people were dangling while others fell into the center of the ride.
One girl on the ride said it was extremely scary with many people full of fear and yelling.
The ride's operator was also taken to the hospital after suffering a panic attack.
All victims were expected to be okay.
A spokesman from the Shelby County Sheriff's office said initial reports that 14 people were thrown from the ride were inaccurate.
The ride has been shut down but the fair remained open Saturday.
