An elderly man has died after he was found beaten and tied up in his Memphis home.
Paul Maher was found Thursday by a neighbor who noticed his back door was open.
He was alive, but severely beaten and tied up. Authorities added his home was ransacked.
He was rushed to a hospital where he passed away the next day.
"Anyone who would do this to a 78-year-old man, beat him up, tie him up, leave him for dead, is an animal," said Justin Jones, the victim’s grandson.
So far there have been few clues as to who robbed Maher or why.
