There have been a lot of dogs that do not have a home across the state, and lots of them have been forced to stay cooped up in a kennel.
Those with the ASPCA said that of the roughly 3.9 million dogs entering shelters each year, approximately 31 percent have been euthanized, and that number has run as high as 78 percent in some urban areas.
That's why for our special segment, Celebrate Tennessee, NewsChannel 5 photojournalist Angie Dones showed us what one non-profit organization has been doing to help them out.
