Two years ago, the city of Chattanooga came under attack when a man went on a shooting rampage killing five service members.
Sunday night, the community came together to celebrate the lives of those men.
Hundreds gathered at the Tennessee RiverPark near the site where the men were gunned down.
The city called the event a celebration rather than a memorial.
City officials said it’s important to continue to honor the five service members who were killed.
“We have a quilt that is being put together with different patches by different people,” said Mayor Andy Berke. “They can say what they want to the families and to the heroes, and then we'll be able to display this around the city.”
Four U.S. Marines and one U.S. Navy sailor lost their lives when Mohommad Abdulazeez opened fire at an Armed Forces Career Center and U.S. Navy Reserve Center.
