Drive Out Hate Billboards Push Message Of Love

Posted

A grassroots organizer in southeastern Tennessee has launched a positive billboard campaign less than a week after an independent candidate for Congress posted a campaign sign in Polk County that said "Make America White Again."

The Chattanooga Times Free Press reported two digital billboards have been erected displaying inclusive messages such as a quote from Martin Luther King Jr.: "Hate cannot drive out hate, only love can do that."

The Drive Out Hate campaign was launched shortly after 3rd Congressional District candidate Rick Tyler installed his controversial billboard along U.S. Highway 411 near Benton earlier in June.

Josiah Vacheresse, the organizer of the Drive Out Hate campaign, said he wanted to show that such messages do not represent his community.

Vacheresse said he hopes to raise more money for another billboard.
