A Memphis man has been convicted in federal court of sex trafficking involving a teenage girl.
Harold Davis, age 27 of Memphis, was found guilty this week in federal court to sex trafficking a minor and using the internet to conduct unlawful activity.
Court records showed Davis had met the female runaway and subsequently advertised her on a website for paid sexual encounters. A Shelby County sheriff's deputy stopped Davis' vehicle for a traffic violation and noticed the girl in the backseat. The deputy also observed an unusually large amount of condoms and female hygiene products in the car.
The FBI determined the website ads were linked to Davis' phone number and email.
Davis faced a mandatory minimum sentence of ten years. Sentencing has been set for July 14.
