Putnam County Commissioner Indicted

A Putnam County Commissioner has been indicted on multiple counts, including theft.

Officials said the investigation began earlier in 2015 as authorities investigated several cases of utility trailer thefts.

The investigation led a grand jury to indict Commissioner Michael G. Scott Stevens on Monday.

Stevens was charged with one count of theft over $10,000, ten counts of theft over $1,000, one count of theft over $500, and three counts of theft under $500. He was also indicted on a count of possession of a prohibited weapon.

Further details on the investigation were not released.

Stevens' bond was set at $20,000. Authorities said additional arrests have been expected in this case.
