Trial Date Set In Fatal Shooting Of Officer

Posted

A judge has set a trial date for a man charged with fatally shooting a female Memphis police officer in December 2012.

Shelby County Criminal Court Judge James Beasley set a June 20 trial date for 24-year-old Treveno Campbell.

Campbell has pleaded not guilty to first-degree murder in the shooting of 32-year-old Officer Martoiya Lang. Authorities said Lang was killed and another officer was injured when police entered a home where drug trafficking was suspected, and a suspect inside the house opened fire with a 9mm pistol with a high-capacity magazine. Campbell was shot during the raid.

Lang was a mother of four children. She was one of four Memphis police officers to be fatally shot since July 2011.
