JACKSON, Tenn. (AP) - A trial has been set for May 27 for former Madison County sheriff David Woolfork, who is charged with attempted sexual battery and domestic assault involving a woman who worked for him.

Woolfork has pleaded not guilty to the charges.

The Jackson Sun reported Judge Paul Summers dismissed an order of protection against Woolfork in Madison County Circuit Court on Tuesday at the request of the woman in the case. Woolfork is prohibited from contact with her as a condition of his bail.

Woolfork retired from the sheriff's office last month embroiled in scandal and facing ouster from office after an independent investigator determined that he sexually harassed two women in his department.
