NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WTVF) — Stewart County Director of Schools was arrested Tuesday night on suspicion of DUI, according to jail booking records.
Leta Jo Joiner was booked into the Stewart County jail at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, charged with driving under the influence and "failure to exercise due care."
Booking records show she was released about two hours later.
According to the Sheriff's Office, Joiner was arrested by a Tennessee Highway Patrol trooper. Details surrounding her arrest are unclear.
Joiner, who is the sister of the Stewart County Sheriff, has since bonded out of jail.
The Tennessee Highway Patrol is handling the case.
Requests for comments from the Stewart County School System and Joiner have so far gone unreturned.
