A Storm 5 Alert has been issued for the Middle Tennessee area from Tuesday afternoon into the evening hours.
Another round of thunderstorms was projected to move through between 4 p.m. and 8 p.m.
Areas along and south of Interstate 40 were under a slight risk for severe weather, with the primary threat being hail and damaging wind.
Heavy downpours and intense lightning should also be expected.
Once the storms move through, lingering showers would remain in the area throughout the evening.
