Stranger Attacks Bar Employee With Beer Bottle

Posted

A man allegedly violently attacked a bar employee with a beer bottle before reportedly trying to hit her with a truck, but now police have him in custody.

According to a police affidavit, the victim said she was finishing up her shift at a bar two weeks ago when a stranger walked in. She said the man, later identified as Ivan Gomez, grabbed a beer bottle from the bar and hit her in the face with it, completely unprovoked.

The incident happened at Daniela's Lounge on East Thompson Lane.

The document stated Gomez hit her so hard it caused a deep gash on her forehead that required stitches.

After the assault, the victim tried to hide the money she was counting in her shirt because she thought Gomez might be trying to rob her, but he ran out into the parking lot.

The victim followed him and saw him get into a pickup truck with a woman, later identified as Kimberly Black.

She was apparently 20 feet behind the truck when Black slammed on the gas with the car in reverse, barreling toward the victim who was able to jump out of the way and run.

Police arrested Gomez Saturday, and he's now facing charges for assault with a deadly weapon. At this time, Black has not been arrested.
