NASHVILLE, Tenn. – A bridge connecting Sumner County and Davidson County was closed Friday, because of structural deficiencies.
Inspectors found the issues during a Tennessee Department of Transportation inspection. TDOT officials said the deficiencies threatened the stability and load-bearing properties of the structure.
The bridge was closed with barricades and signs on Friday.
The TDOT Structures Division recommended closing or repairing the bridge. However, If no action was taken, the owner of the bridge would no longer be eligible for future State Aid on this or any other bridge repair project.
TDOT officials have said the ownership of the bridge is unclear, and bridge’s future will be decided at a later date.
