MURFREESBORO, Tenn. – It was an emotional evening under the Friday night lights in Rutherford County as students and fans honored a teenager killed this week.

Mason Loupe, age 15, died Wednesday, four days after being shot in the head. His family described the incident as an accidental shooting.

Loupe was a sophomore at Siegel High School and a member of the football and wrestling teams.

When the Siegel High School Stars took the field Friday night against rival Oakland High School there was an unusual sense of comradery.

“It’s amazing to see everyone come together and comfort each other and all the support,” said Savannah Jackson, a student at Oakland High School.

Instead of the traditional school colors, plenty of purple filled the stands in honor of Mason.

“It’s been a tough week, we've been upset, and it’s been upsetting. It’s been hard,” said Libby Reasonover, a Siegel High School student.

Students and family members from both schools lined up to buy T-shirts and wristbands that said "Mason Strong."

“We delivered 600 this morning and had 150 brought in,” said Chrissy Grisham, a teacher at Siegel High School. “By the end of today, 750 distributed at Siegel High School.”

Students wore purple T-shirts, and players were wearing Loupe’s #22 on their helmets. There was also a moment of silence before the start of the game.

“It’s a very unfortunate situation, and the kids have pulled together to support each other and as a parent that's nice to see,” said Terra Jackson who was selling T-shirts.

Donations were being taken to help the family with medical expenses. Proceeds from T-shirt sales will also help the family. For more information, click here.

Murfreesboro police continued to investigate the shooting, but said no foul play was suspected.
