ATLANTA (WTVF) — Should the Nashville Predators become the Sabercats? Some students at Emory University in Atlanta have suggested the Predators change their name to get away with stigmas associated with the word "predator."
The students' presentation idea was shared on Twitter from the Marketing Analytics Center at Emory University.
They claimed "Predators" has an unfortunate connotation. Sports teams often rebrand after several years, but fans did not support the idea.
Fans got to vote on the name back in 1997 once the logo had been unveiled. Other options included Ice Tigers, Fury and Attack.
Previous owner Craig Leipold added 'Predators' to the vote which was ultimately selected.
