GALLATIN, Tenn. (WTVF) — On Friday, Sumner County Mayor Anthony Holt extended his emergency declaration through June 18 2020.
It was issued in March 2020 during the COVID-19 pandemic.
"It has been our goal in Sumner County, to remain ready and prepared to battle this pandemic and the challenges it has presented," said Holt.
The closing of the majority of the world has taken a toll on most businesses and while some cities are slowly opening back up to normal, Sumner County is not one of the cities on the list.
Holt says he is thankful for those isolating themselves for as much as possible and limiting unnecessary contact with others during this pandemic. Essential government functions will continue face to face business, but any other business that can be handled over the phone is the better option.
Any and all legal steps are to be taken by employees and staff with this declaration in hopes of controlling the spread of the disease.
"With all of us working together we will get through this pandemic. I ask for your continued support and prayers at this time," said Holt.
