GALLATIN, Tenn. (WTVF) — An 18-year-old has been arrested after leading police on a car chase and then crashing his vehicle into a Sheriff's Office cruiser on Friday morning.
Oshae Stewart of Nashville was driving northbound on Hwy 386 in a Volkswagon Jetta near the Big Station Camp when a Sumner County Deputy observed him clip another vehicle. The officer turned on his lights and began to follow the car, but the Stewart fled.
The officer continued his pursuit into Gallatin until he lost sight of the Jetta.
Moments later the vehicle reappeared heading southbound on the same highway. Stewart exited onto the Big Station Camp exit, ran a stop sign, and crashed into the Sheriff's Office cruiser.
Stewart then exited his vehicle and began to ran into a wooded area nearby but was quickly apprehended.
Stewart has been charged with evading arrest, reckless endangerment, possession of marijuana for resale, tampering with evidence, and unlawful use of body armor.
He is currently being held at the Sumner County Jail.
