Suspect Kills Man During Card Game With 11-Year-Old Grandson

BUCHANAN, Tenn. – A man was killed in a shooting while playing cards with his grandson in Henry County.

Officers said the shooting happened around 7:32 p.m. Friday at 13851 Highway 79 North.

The victim of the shooting was identified as 65-year-old Jacky Ford.

According to authorities, Ford was playing cards with his 11-year-old grandson when a man rushed into the home, called Ford by name, and shot him twice.

Officials said the fatal shot was to Ford’s head. According to Ford’s grandson, the gunman was wearing a sleeveless gray shirt with some type of white writing on the back. The suspect was also wearing a blue ski mask.

Further reports said the suspect was possibly in his late 30’s with a slender build, standing around 5’9’’ or 6’ tall.

Those with the sheriff’s office said the child heard a car speed away from the area shortly after the shooting.
