A man suspected of drunk driving has been arrested after driving off the roadway on Interstate 40 in Wilson County.

The crash happened just after midnight on Memorial Day. Officers from the Mt. Juliet Police Department were called to I-40 westbound near mile marker 223. The crash was at the exit sign for The Hermitage.

When officers from the Mt. Juliet Police Department arrived at the scene they found two vehicles had been involved in the crash.

One vehicle was blocking a lane near the concrete median on the left side of the roadway. The other had driven off the right side of the roadway and down the embankment. It came to rest along the tree line.

Investigators said the driver near the median was driving under the influence and impaired. They said he caused the crash.

Two people were inside the other vehicle. The passenger sustained non-life threatening injuries and was transported by ground to the hospital.

The DUI suspect was taken into custody and booked into the Wilson County Jail. His identity was not available.
