NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WTVF) — The lockdown at Riverbend Maximum Security Institution in Nashville has been lifted after a suspicious package prompted an evacuation.
Neysa Taylor with Tennessee Department of Correction confirmed Wednesday that prison supervisors were notified after the package came through the mail room.
They evacuated the administration building, where the mail room is located, and locked down the facility.
Staff who came in contact with the package were evaluated on site. None of the inmates were affected.
Officials said the substance in the package was deemed non-hazardous.
