A toddler was grazed in a shooting in North Nashville.

The shooting was reported around 8:30 p.m. Thursday in the 2400 block of 26th Avenue North.

Officers said they found a male toddler at the scene who had been grazed by a bullet in his lower right leg.

The child’s mother was interviewed. According to officials, she said her ex-boyfriend came to exchange custody of their child, and a fight ensued between her ex-boyfriend and her current boyfriend.

That’s when the ex-boyfriend allegedly displayed a handgun and shot at the current boyfriend.

The bullet missed the boyfriend and hit the toddler.

He was taken to Monroe Carell Jr. Children's Hospital at Vanderbilt with non-life threatening injuries.

Youth service detectives were called to the scene. So far, a suspect had not been taken into custody.
