The Department of Corrections held a career fair to help reduce recidivism rates.
A total of 71 former offenders came out to the career fair to meet with seven different companies.
People like 23-year-old Versean McLean said he was ready to put his past behind him, and look foward for a second chance.
McLean said after getting out of prison he's been struggling to find a stable job. "I haven't made the best decisions in my life, and most of them I don't regret. But I know that in order to get through something you have to go through it. So me personally, just having the opportunity to better myself and not go back to who I used to be is good enough for me,” he said.
Mclean was looking for a job at a warehouse or in a maintenance department in Nashville, and landed an interview during Thursday’s job fair.
