A Wilson Central High School teacher and softball coach has resigned his position following a criminal investigation.
Michael Shepard resigned Wednesday before a special meeting called by the Wilson County Board of Education.
The meeting was held to discuss a Wilson County Sheriff's Office investigation into allegations of misconduct by Shepard.
Shepard was fired as softball coach and suspended as a teacher until Wednesday's meeting, when his resignation was effective immediately.
The coach has become the focus of the criminal investigation after a parent made allegations about Shepard concerning a student.
