CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. (WTVF) — As people are sheltering in their homes to mitigate the spread of COVID-19, residents in Clarksville are finding some cheer in a 'Teddy Bear Hunt.'

Teddy bears are filling windows of homes and businesses in the city, as part of a trend that is spreading in an effort to stem the boredom of children, while providing a safe activity.

Participants are encouraged to post pictures of the stuffed animals in their windows on social media, using the hashtag #ClarksvilleMoCoBearHunt, so parents may drive children around for some good-natured scavenger hunting - as long as they abide by the state's social distancing guidelines.

Anybody tracking the teddy bears are encouraged to share their adventures using the aforementioned hashtag to help spread the positivity.

"I think this is a great way for families to get out of the house, while practicing social distancing and adhering to the CDC's recommendations," said Clarksville Mayor Joe Pitts. "Together, as a community, we will get through this unprecedented time. Clarksville, this is our finest hour."
