A teenager was shot near Vanderbilt University's campus during an attempted robbery.
The shooting happened around 2:00 a.m. Sunday on 21st Avenue South near Capers Avenue.
The 19-year-old told police he was shot in the shoulder as someone tried to rob him.
His injuries were not life-threatening.
Officers said the teen was not a student at Vanderbilt University.
