NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Police have taken a second suspect into custody in the shooting death of a teenager in the Wedgewood area.

Officials with the Metro Nashville Police Department said 18-year-old Tristan Bowen was arrested Monday after being released from a psychiatric hospital.

Bowen’s boyfriend, 23-year-old Mohamed Almahmmody, was arrested August 14. He was taken into custody after fleeing from a motel and broadsiding a garbage truck on Antioch Pike.

The couple has been accused of killing 18-year-old Kenny Hatcher.

Police said Hatcher was hanging out with a group of men near a home on Vine Hill Road around 9:30 p.m. on August 11 when a black Infinity drove up.

Bowen was allegedly the driver, with Almahmmody in the passenger seat. Witnesses said Almahmmody opened fire on the group, hitting Hatcher. At least three other people were with Hatcher but were not injured.

The teen was found on the back porch with critical wounds when emergency personnel arrived on the scene. Hatcher was transported to Vanderbilt University Medical Center where he was pronounced dead.

It was not clear why shots were fired on the group.

Officials said they were able to recover the Infiniti. They were then able to identify Almahmmody and Bowen.

Almahmmody was charged with murder. He was also facing three charges of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, one charge of evading arrest, and two charges of probation violation.

Bowen was charged with murder and aggravated assault. She was booked into the Metro Jail.
