NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WTVF) — The Tennessee Public Utility Commission (TPUC) announced their endorsement of the TRACED Act this week.

The Telephone Robocall Abuse Criminal Enforcement and Deterrence Act, known as TRACED, is legislation that is designed to reduce the number of telemarketing calls both households and businesses receive across the country.

TPUC Commission Chair Robin L. Morrison said “While the proposed TRACED Act may not resolve all aspects of the ongoing program, it represents a credible and bipartisan effort to identify and pursue those who have flaunted the law. This problem is not going to go away without industry-wide cooperation with state and federal authorities.”

The TRACED Act will give phone service providers 12-18 months from enactment to implement a call authentication framework.
