GREENEVILLE, Tenn. (AP) -- Randy Moore, a sportswriter who had covered the University of Tennessee for four decades, has died. He was 63.
Brandy Partin of Jeffers Mortuary said Moore died early Saturday morning at Takoma Regional Hospital. Darren Reese, sports editor of The Greeneville Sun, said Moore suffered a heart attack in the newspaper's office Friday after covering a high school football game that night.
Moore worked at the Knoxville Journal from 1974 to 1991 and had written about the Volunteers for a variety of other outlets. He most recently was working as editor-in-chief at InsideTennessee of the Scout network.
Tennessee football coach Butch Jones opened his post-practice press conference Saturday by saying "our thoughts and prayers are with Randy Moore and his family."
