NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) - Tennessee State has signed coach Rod Reed to a five-year extension, keeping him under contract through 2018.
Athletic director Teresa Phillips announced the deal Wednesday. She said Reed has brought TSU football back to where it hadn't been for the last 15 years. She said the new deal shows the school's commitment to Reed.
He led the Tigers to a 10-4 record in 2013, and they reached the second round of the FCS playoffs after beating Butler 31-0. It was Tennessee State's first postseason berth since 1999. Reed is 26-21 in four seasons, including 18-7 over the past two.
Reed said in a statement that he appreciates the commitment from the administration.
