HOHENWALD, Tenn. - In honor of Earth Day, The Elephant Sanctuary in Hohenwald hosted a family-friendly party.
The goal was to allow people hands-on lessons about the role elephants play in the wild and to tell the stories of The Sanctuary's resident elephants.
They also discussed ways people can help protect the environment, and children created elephants out of recycled plastic jugs.
Those with The Sanctuary said they tied the project into a lesson about how everyone can be plastic-conscious and reduce our use of and dependency on plastic.
Right now, ten elephants call The Sanctuary home.
