The Power Of Ten Regional Summit Addresses Infrastructure

Business leaders and politicians from ten Middle Tennessee counties gathered for The Power of Ten regional summit on Wednesday to discuss issues impacting the heart of Tennessee.

"Nashville's one of the fastest growing cities in America," U.S. Senator Lamar Alexander explained at the summit where transportation was one of the main topics. "We badly need a long-term, big-time plan for how to get from one place to another or we're all going to be stuck on interstate 24 for the next 30 years."

The nearly $6 billion nMotion plan was discussed by many and representatives from the Moving Forward transit initiative recommended further study of financing options for regional transit in Middle Tennessee.

"As a region, this is so important, and I think when we bring great minds into the room, we actually can move the needle and solve things," Nashville mayor Megan Barry, said.

The summit happens every year, and the hope is that the issues discussed are addressed every year, so the next summit can focus on other issues.
