NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WTVF) — An East Nashville man said he is out $20,000 after thieves took a trailer that was filled with nearly all his possessions.

"Knowing that in that split instant all of that is gone? Your heart really sinks," Nolyn Croy said.

Croy had parked the trailer in the backyard of an East Nashville home he was building. Sometime last week, crooks took the trailer and everything inside.

"The couch, mattresses, my shotgun, all my tools, all our holiday supplies," Croy said. "The worst part is, every time I sit there and think more about it, I realize there was more stuff in there."

All that was left behind was the trailer's license plate.

"You can tell where they cut it," Croy said, while showing the plate.

Croy thinks the thieves had experience because the trailer was double-locked.

"The trailer had two locks on it," he said. "There were no shards of either of the locks left behind, so it's as if they either picked it up with a tow truck or brought the right tools to cut the locks."

Now he wants to give a warning to other neighbors.

"Just because something is locked, and I had the trailer double-locked, don't every assume some one can't pick it up," he said.
