Thousands of dollars in donated merchandise was stolen from the La Vergne Salvation Army's warehouse.
On Monday, officials with the Salvation Army discovered washing machines, air conditioning units, washers and dryers and other large items were stolen from their warehouse. It's located on Dick Buchanan Street and is where the organization stores items before the merchandise is taken to the store to sell in Murfreesboro.
In total, the stolen merchandise is estimated to be worth $10,000.
The burglary comes just weeks after the Murfreesboro store reopened. In June 2015, bad storms damaged the store to the point where it needed to close. The Salvation Army had just reopened the store in November.
"The local community rallied behind us after the Family Store was forced to close this past June," Lt. Andy Seiler said. "We had already sold some of the donated merchandise, and we had much more to move and sell due to the great response from the local community."
Proceeds from the store go to support local projects for the Salvation Army, including its ten week Life Recovery Shelter program.
It's unclear how many suspects are involved with this burglary. If you have any information, contact Crimestoppers at 615-624-8213.
