The First Tennessee Brent Peterson Golf Classic has been set for Monday, Sept. 19, all in hopes of fighting Parkinson's Disease.

The Nashville Predators and former coach Brent Peterson will be raising money during the annual tournament.

It will be held at the Vanderbilt Legends Club. The annual  event raises thousands of dollars for Parkinson's research and treatment each year.

It's a tradition that launched five years ago in 2010 after doctors diagnosed Peterson with the nervous system disorder.

Yet, Peterson said it's about more than finding funding for a cure.

"If we don't raise a cent, I want to make sure people are aware that you can have surgeries, you can have medications that help you out and it's really a good thing they do," he told NewsChannel 5.

The golf tournament sold out, but the Predators will host a dinner and auction Tuesday night called Petey's Party.
