Attorney General Says TN Must Accept Refugees

Posted

State Attorney General Herbert Slatery issued an opinion Monday saying that federal law prevents the state from refusing those refugees to resettle here.

However, Slatery did note that nothing prevents the state from discussing its concerns on the issue.

His statement came after officials discovered at least one of the terrorists in this month's attacks in Paris may have entered France under the cover of a refugee.

After that revelation, Governor Haslam asked the federal government to temporarily stop Syrian refugees from resettling in Tennessee.
