TN Joins I-40 Safety Challenge For Thanksgiving

Posted

The Tennessee Highway Patrol has joined the I-40 Challenge, an eight-state safety campaign to keep people safe while on the road during the Thanksgiving holiday.

THP's Colonel Tracy Trott announced the fourth annual "Interstate 40 Challenge Drive to Zero Fatalities" initiative Friday.

It covers all 2,555 miles of the interstate from North Carolina to California, but in Tennessee, officials are going even further.

From the hours of 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. on Wednesday of next week and again on Sunday from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m., there will be a trooper, police officer or deputy sheriff stationed every 20 miles along the interstate.

The Colonel said the challenge to keep everyone safe is a big one as highway deaths have increased across the country this year.
